Description
Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic.
It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and
topoisomerase IV, enzymes that are essential for:
DNA replication
DNA transcription
DNA repair
Cell division
By blocking these enzymes, ofloxacin prevents bacterial DNA from unwinding
and duplicating, leading to rapid bacterial cell death (bactericidal action).
